MISSIONS

Finote Hiwot Beata LeMariam, Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church was established in Richmond, Virginia in 2006. It is physically located at 105 E. Pilkington St.  Richmond VA 23224.  In 2011, His Eminent Abune Abraham, Patriarch of all Ethiopian Orthodox Churches in the eastern United States visited our church and proclaimed its name to be Fenote Hiwot Beata LeMariam, with full rights and privileges attained to all Orthodox Churches under his domain. As the result the church is fully functional with a replica of the Arc of the Covenant which allows her to provide Divine Liturgy and sacraments to its faithful, perform christening, weddings, funeral services, and other religious activities.

The mission of the church is to keep, practice, and proclaim the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Orthodox Christian Faith. The work and ministry of our Parish includes proclaiming the Gospel, sanctifying the faithful through God's grace in worship, the Divine Liturgy and the Sacraments, and enhancing their spiritual life. We continue to fulfill the great commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by inviting others into the Church through Baptism and/or Chrismation, educating them in the Orthodox Faith through the establishment of programs, schools and philanthropic activities, and implementing Christian ministries.

Finote Hiwot Beata LeMariam Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church strives to fulfill the spiritual needs of its members by providing religious and related services in a manner consistent with the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo church’s faith, values and tradition. Its goals are to establish and maintain Divine Liturgy services and religious observance; and to inherit the religion, history, culture, language, traditions, and values of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church to our children born in diaspora.
